Towards the full participation of sport countries in the global Sports and Olympic arenas

Abstract

This presentation will attempt to assess the current situation of sport countries with regard to their roles in the global sports and Olympic arenas, and put forward a preliminary outline towards achieving full potentiality and participation in them.

To such aims, and with particular attention to the case of Catalonia, it will first briefly delve into the historical background of the concept of " Geographie sportive" and its subsequent implementation together with allied developments till the present, to be followed by a rough mapping of the current impediments hindering the full participation of sport countries in the global sports and Olympic arenas, to be capped by a preliminary outline of a course of action towards the dismantling of such barriers thereby attaining the full participation of sport countries in the desired arenas and the unhindereded development of their potentialities in the realm of sports.
