INTEGRATION OF SPORT COUNTRIES FEDERATIONS INTO THE INTERNATIONAL ONES

Abstract

The speaker will address the following issue: to which extent can a federation representing a territory that does not constitute a State under international public law claim and obtain direct membership in international federations?

Firstly, the relevant regulations of some international federations will be examined in order to identify the most usual solutions retained by that international sporting institutions. In particular:

· Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA)

· Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI)

· International Tennis Federation (ITF)

· International Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF)

· International Judo Federation (IJF)

Secondly, the legality of each of the above mentioned regulations will be reviewed under both international and national law in order to determine possible evolutions that could take place is the near future.
