Catalonia, the winner of the Atlantic Watersoprt Games 2009
Catalonia was the winner of the last Atlantic Watersport Games held in Viana do Castelo (North of Portugal) in august. With the second consecutive victory of Catalonia, the guest was untouchable and dominating in sailing and underwater, and very present in kayaking and rowing.
The first three regions (Catalonia, North Portugal and Britain) were obtained each 13 gold medals in 46 disciplines in competition.
It replays with the silver medals: Catalonia won 14 against 11 for Northern Portugal and Britain 9.
This delegation of Catalonia for the second consecutive year to reach the highest step of the podium.
The classification was played on the last day with the test results of underwater photography, two gold medals won by Catalonia allow to distance its two main rivals, North Portugal and Britain leading the ratings from
beginning of the Games.
Aquitaine was ranked fourth.
A crucial element in Jthe games 2009 was the high level sports delegations.
These were sent numerous national champions in each discipline or international: underwater world champion, world champions in rowing and sea Olympic rowing champions at national junior champion in Optimist France and Spain, 2.4 in Laser junior
European champions, France, Britain, Portugal to Surf and Body Board, National Team of Ireland Polo kayaking.
